Honor 10 Lite price in India starts at Rs. 13,999 (4B+64GB) and goes up to Rs. 17,999 (6GB+64GB) which puts it in the segment where already there are players like Xiaomi and newbie Realme. Its key features include a dewdrop notch display, Helio P70 chipset, dual rear camera, and a 25MP front camera. We can see both the Honor 10 Lite and Realme U1 are the budget range phones with some common features like notch display and an impressive selfie camera. With almost similar pricing, they both stand face to face against each other. Let’s find out which one is better value for money phone.

Honor 10 Lite Vs Realme U1 Specifications

Design and Display: Glass-like back and dewdrop notch

Honor is known for making good looking phones at an affordable price. The Honor 10 Lite is no exception and it comes with a stunning design. It has a premium glossy back with gradient finish which looks quite attractive. The company has used 8-layer processing tech to offer the 3D optical effect on the back.

The sides have a chrome effect and feel smooth, without being slippery. It is just 8mm thick and lightweight too. Up front, it has a tiny dewdrop notch at the top of the display that houses the front camera.

Coming to the Realme U1, it comes with a laminated flat rear panel which looks like the glass back, but actually is a plastic back with a matte finish. The edges of the phone do not offer a good grip and it is also 6gms heavier than Honor 10 Lite. The front of the device is dominated by a dewdrop notch display.

If we talk about displays, the Honor 10 Lite sports a 6.21-inch 2.5D curved glass display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 91% screen-to-body ratio. It has Full HD+ resolution of 2340×1080 pixels which makes the display bright and sharp. It also comes with an Eye Care Mode as the display panel is TÜV Rheinland Certified.

The Realme U1 also sports a dewdrop notch display which is 6.3-inch in size and comes with Full HD+ (2340×1080 pixels) resolution. The 2.5D curved glass display has 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio. The Realme U1’s display doesn’t feature any eye protection mode. Overall, in terms of design and display, Honor 10 Lite looks a winner. With its stylish gradient design and bright dewdrop notch display, it becomes a little more premium in looks.

Cameras: AI makes a difference?

Honor has used a dual rear camera setup with a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The Honor 10 Lite focuses quick and there is no shutter lag. With the AI mode, the dual camera can recognize 22 different objects & 500 scenarios. It recognizes the focused object or character of different scenes and adjusts the camera settings accordingly so that you can capture photos like professionals. For selfies, there is a 24MP Sony IMX 576 shooter. It also comes 8 AI scene detections and even optimizes the background of the selfies. The new AI beauty feature customizes beauty effects based on your age, gender and skin tone. It also has a Bokeh mode which lets you blur backgrounds in the selfies. The selfies are sharp and detailed in good lighting. It also AR Mode that can change the background while clicking photos and offers different effects. Realme also used a 13MP+2MP rear camera combination for its U1. The Realme U1’s rear camera clicks good pictures but they lack detailing and look a little dull in comparison to Honor 10 Lite. Its portrait mode has an edging issue as it cannot detect the object and background. The highlight of the phone is 25MP selfie camera with Sony IMX 576 sensor. The front camera has several modes including the portrait. But, here again, it fails to impress as the selfies lack good detailing and also it cannot blur background accordingly. Overall, Honor 10 Lite looks like a winner in the camera department as well. It offers better detailing and its AI scene detection modes do adjustments accordingly to give you the best result every time.

Performance: Kirin 710 with GPU Turbo Vs Helio P70

The 10 Lite is powered by Huawei’s new Kirin 710 octa-core processor based on a 12nm process and clocked at 2.2GHz. It is paired with 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. Performance wise, the new Kirini 710 12nm chipset is quite good for gaming with its latest GPU Turbo 2.0 technology. It offers better graphics so users can enjoy an immersive gaming experience.

We played heavy games like PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9 on it. The launch it at a high frame rate settings and there is not any lag in terms of performance. We also did not face any heating issue as well. The Realme U1 is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P70 chipset with 3GB or 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage. The P70 chipset is also a 12nm processor but it doesn’t have any turbo technology for gaming. The phone can launch PUBG Mobile on medium settings. We also played Asphalt 9 that also did not feel smooth. Software-wise, both phones offer different experience because of their custom UIs. The Honor 10 Lite is running the latest Android 9 Pie with its EMUI 9. The EMUI 9 offers several new features and system speed enhancements with AI capabilities. While the Realme U1 is still running Android 8.1 Oreo with custom ColorOS on top. The ColorOS also comes with several features. But, Honor 10 Lite is a clear winner here because of the latest Android Pie.

Battery: Honor 10 Lite got better optimization

The Realme U1 packs a 3,500 mAh battery while the Honor 10 Lite has a 3,400 mAh battery. The battery life on Honor 10 Lite is better optimized with the features of Kirin 710 with GPU 2.0 and Android 9.0 Pie. So, Honor 10 Lite is a winner in terms of battery life as well.

Conclusion

Coming to the conclusion, at Rs. 13,999, Honor 10 Lite offers a better build, powerful gaming hardware, latest software, and better cameras also. Realme U1, on the other hand, starts at a slightly lower price but its 4GB+64GB variant is costlier than Honor 10 Lite. So, if you are looking for a stylish looking phone with good performance and great cameras, Honor 10 Lite could really be a good value for money option for you.
