Honor Holly 2 Plus Hands On  [Video]

Physical Overview

Honor Holly 2 Plus comes packed in a plastic body, which is not commonly seen in smartphones these days. The overall looks of the new Holly 2 Plus resemble what we saw on its predecessor. It retains the polycarbonate body and has added a metal frame along the sides to add a bit or premium feel. The back has a crisscross diamond shaped pattern which adds to the looks. Build quality is good, one could instantly feel the sturdiness once you hold it in your hand. On the fron top, there is a speaker mesh with front camera, ambient light sensor and  proximity sensor. At the bottom there is nothing except a broad bezel.

On the right side you will find a volume rocker and power button.

On the bottom side you will find a microUSB port with speaker grills on both sides of it.

On the back you will find a camera unit holding the 13 MP lens and LED flash on its left. In the middle there is logo of Honor and rest of the surface has nothing much to talk about.

User Interface

Honor Holly 2 Plus runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS with the latest version of EMUI customized by Honor itself. Aesthetics and design of the new Emotion UI, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, look good. Huawei is highlighting the use of screen and smart gestures, which you can use to trigger apps directly from standby. We tried these features and everything seemed to work very smoothly during the the hands on experience.

Camera Overview

Honor Holly 2 Plus features a 13 MP rear snapper and a 5 MP front shooter. While on paper, the camera specs look improved, we could not test the camera properly due to the bad lighting conditions at the event, and we will reserve our judgment for when we review it. By the time if you want to see how the camera performs, you can watch the hands on video above.

Comparison And Competition

Honor Holly 2 Plus will be competing with the likes of  Asus Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE500KL), Micromax Canvas Nitro 4G, Samsung Galaxy On5, and the Lenovo Vibe P1m.

Conclusion

Honor Holly 2 Plus is a price worthy handset which offers great battery backup in a not so bulky shell. There are a lot of devices which may look better than this on paper but when it comes overall performance, Honor does its job the best. It is a great phone for someone who doesn’t like running low on battery or performance and need a satisfying camera module for the price.
