Design, Build and Display
The Huawei Honor Holly is a sturdy smartphone, with curved body design and a glossy back cover. You will have to take good care of the glossy back as it won’t look half as appealing if you accumulate scratches. It’s comfortable to hold in hand and is heavy enough to feel substantial in hand. On the whole we like Huawei’s design choice at this price point.
The Display is 5 inches in size with 720p HD resolutions. It is a sharp display with good brightness. Colors are slightly on the colder side, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Horizontal viewing angles are great, but colors fades slightly and a yellowish tint appear while viewing from extreme vertical angles. We like the display on Huawei Honor Holly and wish Huawei had used any form of protective layer on top.
Processor and RAM
The processor used is 1.3 GHz quad core MT6582 quad core with Mali 400 GPU, which has been well tested overtime and does not disappoint in day to day operations on Honor Holly either. It’s the same chipset we have seen in Android One phones selling in the same price range.
There is 1 GB RAM to assist multi tasking and around 600 MB is free on first boot. Yes you can engage in graphic intensive gaming and all seemed good under initial testing. Hope this lasts in the long run as well. Performance is mostly lag free, though we did observe some frame drops here and there. Benchmark scores (18296 on Antutu and 51.7 fps on Nenamarks 2) are pretty good too.
Camera and Internal Storage
The rear camera has an 8 MP resolution and you can record 1080p full HD videos. Camera quality is good in proper lighting but it’s not particularly dazzling. Under low light conditions performance suffers a little. The front 5 MP fixed focus unit will suffice for good quality video calling. On the whole, imaging hardware is average.
Internal storage is one of the most visible advantages of Honor Holly. There is 16 GB nand flash storage out of which 13 GB is available for users. Good thing is that there is no separate partition for apps. You can also install apps and heavy games on the external SD card. USB OTG however is missing.
User Interface and Battery
Honor Holly features Android 4.4.2 Kitkat with emotion UI on top. Update to Lollipop hasn’t been guaranteed but there are good chances Huawei will upgrade it. Emotion UI is quite simple to use and since it’s android you can download any launcher which suits your taste. There is no battery saving mode or Video calling option in the dialer.
Battery capacity is again very decent. Huawei hasn’t compromised on the battery backup and you can easily squeeze in 1 day usage with more than 4 hours of on screen time. Considering a 5 inch HD display has to be powered, battery backup has been more than our expectations.

Conclusion
Huawei Honor Holly is a decently built smartphone with a large 5 Inch HD display and MediaTek quad core which you can buy at a great price of 6,999 INR. It is one of the best MT6582 smartphones available under 10,000 INR and packs enough grunt to compete in the price sensitive Indian market. You can buy Huawei Honor Holly from Flipkart.
