Within narrow bezels and sleek body cavity, Huawei has placed a 7 inch IPS LCD display which is crisp and sharp with 1920 x 1200 pixels spread across it. In our time with the device, we observed decent colors and sharpness. The processor employed is Huawei’s own Cortex A9 based Quad-core unit clocked at 1.6 GHz backed by Mali 450 GPU. Further assisting with performance is 2 GB RAM and ample 16 GB of Nand Flash storage. The chipset seems quite capable for heavy lifting.

The software is Android 4.2 with clunky Emotion UI customization on top. We would have liked to see KitKat in Huawei’s premium tablet, but Huawei has opted for the dated version. Huawei hasn’t been callous in the imaging department either. You will get a 13 MP shooter capable of 1080P video recording equipped with LED flash at the back and a 5 MP wide angle shooter for selfies. The battery powering the internals is rated at 5000 mAh, which is again on the higher side. Overall, Huawei MediaPad X1 is a pretty decent premium Huawei tablet and considering Huawei’s India pricing so far, we don’t expect it to be priced below 25,000 INR. Huawei might surprise us with a competitive pricing in price sensitive Indian market.
