Camera and Internal Storage

The primary snapper in the Jivi JSP 20 is a 2 MP sensor that is too low. This camera is teamed up with LED flash that will provide better performance under low ambient light conditions. However, the downside is that the device misses out on a front-facing selfie camera that can make video calls. These camera aspects make the device a weak contender in terms of photography capabilities, but they are acceptable considering its pricing. The internal storage in the handset is a paltry 256 MB this is annoying, but there is a micro SD expansion card slot that supports up to 32 GB of additional storage that should suffice in storing all the content. Processor and Battery

The processor used in the Jivi smartphone is a 1 GHz unit that is aided by a mere 128 MB of RAM.  Again, in this segment as well the handset remains a feeble performer, but it is on par with the other smartphones in this price bracket. The battery capacity in the Jivi JSP 20 is average at 1,350 mAh and it is claimed to pump in a backup of up to 7.5 hours of media usage to the smartphone.

Display and Features

The display in the smartphone sounds average in terms of size and resolution as it is a 3.5 inch panel with a screen resolution of 320×480 pixels. However, it is an OGS (One Glass Solution) panel. The incorporation of the OGS technology makes the Jivi smartphone the first one in this class to come with such as a panel that will make the screen more responsive. The handset is based on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread that is pretty outdated, while the other Android smartphones in this price bracket are fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat with more resources. Connectivity wise, the device features 2G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that are pretty common. The handset supports up to six languages and they are English, French, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The applications such as YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp are pre-loaded in it and there are widgets for LED torch flashlight and other necessary settings such as Wi-Fi and brightness.

Comparison

The Jivi JSP 20 smartphone could be a direct rival to the other Android smartphones including Intex Aqua T2 and Celkon Campus A35K and the Firefox OS based devices such as Intex Cloud Fx and Spice Fire One Mi-FX 1.

Price and Conclusion

The Jivi JSP 20 is priced affordably at Rs 1,999 making it suitable even for the price conscious consumers. It is clear that this smartphone is aimed at the feature phone users luring them to upgrade to a smartphone. But, it has missed out on some aspects that are a part of the other Android smartphones in this price range including the v4.4 KitKat. The other specifications of the device are on par with its rivals making it a competent handset.
