Display and Processor

Nokia Lumia 625 comes with a larger 4.7 inch IPS LCD display with lesser WVGA resolution which amounts to 199 pixels per inches. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The Nokia Lumia 630 on the other hand comes with a smaller 4.5 inch display with more 854 x 480 (FWVGA) pixels spread across it. The display is protected by tougher Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and sports Nokia’s ClearBlack technology for better outdoor visibility. Nokia Lumia 630 is the first Lumia phone with virtual keys and this means, further reduction in display real estate. Nokia Lumia 625 is powered by 1.2 GHz dual core processor with more efficient Krait cores. The Nokia Lumia 630 on the other hand comes with 1.2 GHz Quad core Snapdragon 400 chipset with cortex A7 based cores. Both chipsets feature only 512 MB RAM and we can expect the performance to be similar for basic day to day task. Nokia Lumia 630 however will have the advantage of 2 extra cores while performing more taxing tasks. It also comes equipped with an extra SenseCore which monitors fitness data including how many steps you have taken and how many calories you have burned. The data is logged in Bing Health and Fitness App. Nokia will also release the SDK for this app to developers.

Camera and Internal Storage

Camera features take a back seat on Lumia 630. The Nokia Lumia 625 comes with a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, capable of full HD video recording and also a front camera for basic video chat and selfies. Nokia Lumia 630 eliminates the front camera and LED flash. The basic 5 MP rear camera can shoot only 720p videos. Internal storage is 8 GB on both Lumia 625 and 630. However, Lumia 625 allows expansion up to 64 GB and Lumia 630 allows microSD expansion for up to 128 GB. Although both storage options are more than decent at respective price range and will suit most users. Nokia Lumia 630 scores more for 128 GB microSD support.

Battery and Other Features

Battery backup has rarely been an issue with Nokia Handsets. Nokia Lumia 625 offers 552 hours of standby time and 15 hours of 3G Talk time from its 2000 mAh batter and Nokia Lumia 630 will offer you 13 hours of talk time on 3G and 600 hours of standby time from its 1830 mAh battery. Music play back time however is considerably lesser at 58 hours on Nokia Lumia 630 compared to 90 hours on Lumia 625. Lumia 630 will have a big advantage of Dual SIM support as compared to Lumia 625 in Indian market. Smart Dual SIM implies, you can receive call on one SIM even while attending call on another. Lumia 630 comes with new and improved Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box but this feature will eventually land on all Lumia phones running Windows Phone 8.

Key Specs

Conclusion

If you set aside camera features, Nokia Lumia 630 has better specs than Nokia Lumia 625 on paper. It has the added advantage of dual SIM but the display will be slightly smaller in size. Overall, both of these will be good performers but Nokia Lumia 630 seems a better choice out of the two handsets for now.
