It was reported by an XDA Developers contributor that OnePlus is probably working on a limited Star Wars Edition of OnePlus 5T. As per the report, the user has found Star Wars reference in a leaked Android Oreo closed beta build for the OnePlus 5. However, XDA Developer’s article has been removed now for unknown reasons, but a cache of the webpage is available. The XDA Developers shows that after decompiling Launcher, Settings and SystemUI APKs, they found a Star Wars-flavoured accent color with “accent_star_wars” string. Apart from this, some more references within the leaked Oreo build were found by XDA after digging more. They found strings of code that read as “DEVICE_CUSTOM_STAR_WARS” and “customization_workspace_star_wars” which points towards a physical device. The report hints towards a separate device that could be OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition. It also looks more reliable as the next part of the Star Wars series movies, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is scheduled to release next month. So, OnePlus might launch OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition in partnership with Disney, which is the distributor of Star Wars movies. Previously, OnePlus had also launched special editions of its other flagships as well. They had launched a Black Colette Limited Edition of the OnePlus 3T and a OnePlus 5 JCC Limited Edition. But both the editions were limited to certain regions. Therefore, the Star Wars Edition, if it’s in works, is likely to be limited to the US market. Recently, the OnePlus 5T was also unboxed revealing all its features. A German portal ZDNet had posted an entire gallery of the OnePlus 5T unboxing. In the article, the phone was compared with OnePlus 5 and all its specs were also confirmed. It showed details like edge-to-edge 6.01-inch full HD+ AMOLED display, Android 7.1.1 Nougat, Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB RAM and 16MP+20MP dual rear camera setup to name a few.
