Reliance Jio, after changing the face of Indian telecom sector by offering ultra-affordable data and voice, will soon enter the DTH (Direct to Home) service. Also, the company is working on another crucial segment, Jio Fiber and has plans for services like IoT Hub.
Jio DTH features
The Jio DTH set-top box is also expected to come connected with JioFiber broadband for Internet TV. It will get an integrated Jio Store along with Google Play Store to download Android apps for your TV. The set-top box will have 16GB of onboard storage to store content and you can also connect an external hard drive of up to 2TB to play your own content on the TV. The remote that comes with the set-top box looks like the Google Chromecast remote. It has an integrated microphone which might allow voice commands using Google Assistant and now Jio’s own newly launched voice assistant Hello Jio. The Jio set-top box will also come with a joystick for playing games directly on TV and users won’t need to connect an external gaming console. As of now, the Jio set-top box is in the final stages of testing as suggested by the report and the company will most likely start Jio DTH service along with Jio Fiber this month only.
