Display and Processor

The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 comes with a 5.25 inches display that has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with a pixel density of 280 ppi. The same is way better than the 5 inch display of Galaxy Grand Neo which has a display resolution of 800 x 480 pixels with a pixel density of a paltry 186 ppi. The display resolution on Grand Neo seems stretched a lot and comes nowhere close to the Grand 2 in terms of display. Powering the Galaxy Grand 2 is a 1.2 GHz quad core processor which teams up with a 1.5GB RAM to aid multitasking and a smooth performance. Under the hood of the Galaxy Grand Neo is a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Broadcom BCM23550 chipset which performs decently well but does not really match up to the Galaxy Grand 2 in terms of performance. It gets a 1GB RAM.

Camera and Memory

The Galaxy Grand 2 gets an 8MP autofocus camera as its primary unit which gets coupled with a LED flash. It gets all the bells and whistles which include Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization. The phablet gets a secondary camera of 1.9MP which is capable of HD video recording while the primary camera is capable of 1080p video recording @ 30 fps. The Galaxy Grand Neo gets a 5MP Autofocus camera which has a LED flash teaming up with it and is capable of recording videos in 720p resolution. This is joined in by VGA front camera. The Galaxy Grand 2 has a better imaging department and the Grand Neo comes a second in this regard. The internal storage capacity of both the devices stands at 8GB with the Grand 2 supporting microSD cards up to 64GB while the Grand Neo will come for a microSD card support up to 32GB.

Battery and Features

The Grand 2 comes shod with a 2,600 mAh battery while giving the Grand Neo the juice is a 2,100 mAh battery. Seeing the fact that the Grand 2 battery unit has heavier specs to power, both of them will offer a similar level of performance and are expected to last a day on a single charge. Galaxy Grand 2 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean whereas Galaxy Grand Neo runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The former might just get updated to Android KitKat but we wouldn’t get our hopes high for the Grand Neo.

Key Specs

Conclusion

There is a price difference of Rs 5,000 between both the devices and the same stands justified when you see their spec sheets. The Grand Neo comes across as an upgrade to the Galaxy Grand and a lighter version of the Grand 2. In my opinion, the Grand 2 is pretty much worth the price difference.
