Display and Processor

Both the Xperia Z2 and Galaxy S5 boast FHD 1080p displays, but the Samsung phone has a Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches translating to a pixel density of 432 pixels per inch, while the IPS LCD display panel on the Xperia Z2 measures 5.2 inches with 424 ppi pixel density. But the major difference is that the Xperia Z2’s TRILUMINOS display with X-Reality Engine and the latest Live Color LED tech delivers vivid colors without over saturation as the Super AMOLED screen. Besides this, the Xperia Z2 has a scratch resistant and shatter proof display, while that of the Galaxy S5 is protected using Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Talking of the hardware specs, the Galaxy S5 is stuffed with an Exynos True Octa processor and Adreno 330 GPU, while the Xperia Z2 has the Snapdragon 801 chipset with 2.3 GHz quad-core Krait processor and Adreno 330 GPU. Though an octa-core processor is superior, it is not clear on what enhancements this true core processor would put forth on the table.

Battery and Features

Also, the Galaxy S5 comes with an IP67 certification allowing the handset to withstand under 1 meter water for 30 minutes, while the Xperia Z2 has the IP68 certification that makes the phone capable of surviving under 1.5 meters of water for an hour.

After analyzing both the Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z2 in depth, it is tough to pick a winner among them, but the Samsung offering is the first one to be release thereby having the chance to attract high initial sales. Also to be noted is that Sony phones are faster in receiving the Android updates as compared to Samsung device, hence those wanting to relish the experiences of new versions of the Google’s OS can opt for Xperia Z2.
