The Q700 sports the same 4.5 inch IPS display as on the Q800, with the same qHD resolution of 960x540p. It is not the best resolution available in the market, but it is good enough for casual as well as multimedia usage. Another plus of not having a great resolution is that the GPU is a little more at ease – which means you will see much more fluid performance as compared to full HD displays on the same configuration. The camera in the Q700 has been knocked down to 5 megapixels as compared to the 8 megapixel unit on the Q800. That is justified, given that Q700 will sell at a cheaper price then Q800. However, Xolo have retained the BSI feature – back illuminated camera – which lets you take great pictures even in low-light conditions. As you might have expected, the 1.2GHz Quad Core processor again comes from Mediatek, which can be found on most budget devices at this day. Being a Mediatek chipset, you expect it to have Dual SIM feature and the Q700 does not let you down. One great thing about this device is that it will feature Android 4.2 out of the box – which means the user can get the feel of the latest Android version without having to upgrade.

The Q700 has loads of competitors to compete with in the Indian market – like the Xolo Q800, Micromax Canvas HD, Gionee Dream D1, Zopo ZP980, Zopo ZP950+, among others. However, we expect the Q700 to be priced in the 10-11,000 INR range, and that would make it one of the cheapest contenders in the competition.

Most of these companies are newcomers to the Indian market, and Xolo and Micromax are the only ones who are established in the country as reputable mobile phone makers, people apprehensive going for brands like Zopo and Gionee, although they offer good hardware at great prices. This will give Xolo and Micromax an upper hand when it comes to market share.

Conclusion

We will have to wait for the pricing to be revealed by Lava, but we have seen quite a few quad core phones being released of late, hence we can make an estimate or guess that it will be priced under 11,000 INR. When the specs are concerned, the phone looks pretty solid with the Mediatek MT6589 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. People who are looking for something better in the price and something new might be the first ones to get their hands on to this device.   Keep watching this space for more updates on the device, as and when Lava reveal the pricing.
